If there is one herb that grows well in my herb garden, it’s sage. Seriously – I couldn’t kill it if I tried – unlike the basil and mint which doesn’t seem to tolerate the Southern California climate as well as my general negligence of all things in the garden.
Which is perfect for this pasta which contains only three key ingredients: a handful of sage, two tablespoons of butter and a good packet of fresh (non-frozen or dried) ravioli of your choice.
I don’t usually make this dish for the whole family – it’s a meal that lends itself to eating dinner again at adult-o-clock and enjoying an impromptu date night during the week.
After I get the last kid into bed, I pour out a couple of glasses of wine, hand one to my wife and start cooking. Ten minutes later I have a meal ready that rivals any pasta meal you can get in a restaurant, it’s that good.
